For most residential front doors, we recommend the NexGuard Pro Deadbolt — it offers fingerprint recognition, keypad entry, and full app control in one package, and it's our best-seller for good reason. If you want to replace your entire handle hardware, the TouchEntry Handle Set is the premium choice. If you're renting or don't want to modify your door, the SlimFit Retrofit Cylinder installs in 5 minutes with no tools.
Yes. All outdoor LockNest products are rated IP55 or higher, meaning they're protected against dust and rain. Our padlocks carry an IP65 rating, making them fully dustproof and protected against water jets. The electronic components are sealed and rated for temperatures from -22°F to 140°F (-30°C to 60°C).
It varies by model. The NexGuard Pro Deadbolt stores up to 100 fingerprints and 100 access codes. The IrisScan Biometric Lock stores 1,000 users. The KeyMatrix Backlit Keypad stores 100 unique PIN codes. The DualGuard Commercial Lock supports unlimited users via the cloud. All models let you manage users remotely through the LockNest app.
You'll receive low-battery alerts in the app and via LED indicators well in advance — typically when 20% battery remains. In the event of a complete discharge, all LockNest smart deadbolts have a physical key override as a backup. Some models also feature an emergency USB-C power input on the exterior, allowing you to temporarily power the lock with a portable battery to unlock it.
Most WiFi-enabled LockNest locks are compatible with Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Apple HomeKit. You can lock/unlock with voice commands, create automations (e.g., lock automatically at 10pm), and view lock status in your smart home dashboard. Bluetooth-only models work exclusively through the LockNest app.
Standard shipping (free on orders over $400) takes 3–5 business days within the contiguous US. Expedited shipping (2-day) is available for $14.99. Next-day shipping is available for $24.99. We ship to all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and Canada. International shipping is available to select countries — rates calculated at checkout.
You can change or cancel your order within 1 hour of placing it by contacting our support team at support@locknest.com or calling 1-800-556-2687. After that window, your order may have entered fulfillment and we may not be able to intercept it. If your order has already shipped, you can return it under our 30-day return policy.
Yes! All US orders over $400 qualify for free standard shipping (3–5 business days). Since most of our locks are priced above $250, many single-item orders qualify when paired. We also offer free shipping on all orders during promotional periods — sign up for our newsletter to be notified.
Most LockNest deadbolts replace a standard ANSI/BHMA Grade 1 deadbolt hole (2-1/8" bore) and take 15–30 minutes with a Phillips screwdriver. No wiring or special tools required. The SlimFit Retrofit Cylinder requires no tools at all — it's a 5-minute swap. Each box includes printed step-by-step instructions, and our app has an interactive installation guide with video.
LockNest deadbolts fit standard US doors with a 2-1/8" (54mm) cross bore and 1" (25mm) edge bore, which covers the vast majority of residential and commercial doors. The backset (distance from door edge to center of bore) adjusts to fit both 2-3/8" and 2-3/4" — the two most common sizes. If you have a non-standard door, contact us before purchasing.
No. LockNest locks are designed for DIY installation — if you can tighten a screw, you can install one of our locks. That said, if you'd prefer professional installation, we partner with certified locksmiths in most major cities. You can book an in-home installation through our app or website for a flat fee of $79.
Download the free LockNest app from the App Store (iOS 14+) or Google Play (Android 8+). The app lets you lock/unlock remotely, manage users and access codes, view activity logs, set schedules, receive alerts, and update firmware. One app controls all your LockNest locks across multiple properties.
Yes. Physical methods (fingerprint, keypad, key) always work offline. Bluetooth unlocking via the LockNest app also works without internet within range. WiFi-dependent features (remote unlock, activity notifications, voice assistant) require an internet connection. We designed all our locks to function safely even during internet or power outages.
Open the LockNest app, tap "Manage Access," and send an invite to any email address. You can set them as a permanent member (full access) or a guest with time-limited access (e.g., "Saturday 10am–4pm only"). You can also generate one-time access codes for delivery drivers, cleaners, or contractors without sharing your personal code.
Our 2-year limited warranty covers all manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship, including electronic failures, keypad malfunctions, and mechanical defects. It does not cover damage from improper installation, physical abuse, normal wear and tear, or attempted break-ins. To make a warranty claim, contact support@locknest.com with your order number and a description of the issue.
We offer hassle-free 30-day returns on all products in original, undamaged condition with original packaging. Items that have been installed may be returned if they are free from damage and include all original components. Initiate a return through your account dashboard or by contacting support. We'll email you a prepaid return label, and process your refund within 5 business days of receiving the item.
Start with these steps: (1) Check battery level — replace or charge if low. (2) Force-restart the lock by holding the reset button for 10 seconds. (3) Delete and re-add the lock in the app. (4) Update the lock firmware via the app. If none of these resolve the issue, contact our support team at support@locknest.com or call 1-800-556-2687. If the lock is within warranty, we'll replace it at no charge — usually within 3 business days.
